Rêver grand / Dream Big

62 bd Jean-Jaurès – 92100 Boulogne

February 5–15, 2026

Dream Big is not a slogan here, but a necessity.

This exhibition brings together ten women artists with very different practices—sometimes abstract, sometimes figurative, sometimes at the threshold between the two—but all driven by the same ability: to bring forth an inner world and open it to the gaze.

Dreaming first appears as a gesture.

A repeated, structured gesture, sometimes constrained, sometimes instinctive, translating life paths, evolutions, and transitions.

It can take the form of slowed time, of matter undone and then rebuilt, making room for space, resilience, and calm.

Some works map out choices, bifurcations, roots, and impulses, while others hold fragile moments, suspended between appearance and disappearance.

Color, light, the layering of surfaces, or the sobriety of black and white open up sensitive territories: mental landscapes, refuges, inner climates, poetic spaces where emotion circulates freely. Drawing sometimes enters into dialogue with text, image with word, inviting an off-centered reading—more reflective or more intuitive.

Material—paper, textile, metal, pigment, ink, or paint—then becomes the very site of the dream, oscillating between fragility and resistance.

In these practices, dreaming often responds to a deep need: to repair, to reassemble, to give form again to what has been lived through.

If these approaches do not all tell the same story, they meet in a shared attention to what transforms, reveals itself, or is healed. Dreaming is neither escape nor decoration: it is a tool of perception, a way of inhabiting the world differently.

For these artists, dreaming big means accepting the path of intuition and opening up a field of possibilities. The dream leaves the studio to extend into the gaze—that of the visitor, invited to enter a dream composed by the artist.

THE HOUSE WE CARRY

Reclaiming women’s work: craft, care, and labor made visible as art

I’m delighted to be part of this upcoming group exhibition at Eleven Ten Studio in Basel, alongside Pemanagpo, Giulia Seri, Rojin Shafiei, Fanie Simon, Nika Timashkova, and Sylwia Zawislak.

The project takes as its starting point the long history of women’s work being dismissed as “craft” rather than “art.” Practices such as textile, ceramic, jewelry, or even domestic decoration were traditionally relegated to the private sphere — undervalued precisely because they were associated with women.

The House We Carry questions and reclaims that boundary, showing how contemporary female artists transform these “craft” forms into powerful artistic languages. Together, these gestures evoke memory, intimacy, and resistance the emotional architecture of the homes we all carry within.

Juliette Lepage Boisdron, born in Paris, grew up between the USSR, the UAE, North China, and Africa, nurturing a multicultural imagination from childhood. A Sorbonne graduate in Art History, she later directed an art gallery, studied traditional Chinese painting in Singapore, and contemporary jewelry in Portugal. Free from academic constraints, her instinctive, animism-inspired practice celebrates the belief that all things in nature possess a soul. Her poetic universe features mystical women, watchful eyes, and lush flora and fauna, often intertwined with her organically inspired jewelry creations.

Natacha Di Nucci, based in Basel, discovered her artistic vocation early but initially pursued a commercial career before fully committing to art. A transformative experience led her to embrace simplicity as a core philosophy—stripping away excess to reveal the essential. Advocating purity and minimalism, she draws inspiration from nature and prioritizes sustainability, creating her own handmade paper from recycled materials. Her work unfolds through series such as Traces, Corals, and Plants, encompassing both paintings and objects.

Wir freuen uns auf Ihren Besuch.

Poster for Wild at Art event titled 'Make Love Not War, Man!' taking place from June 18 to June 28, 2025, featuring an illustration of three people beside a large eagle. The event includes performances and an exhibition at Salon Mondial in Munich.

“The theme of protection - both physical and psychic - reappears in Juliette Lepage Boisdron’s exquisite Shield Series. Created on delicate rice paper with glass bead embellishments, her works are poetic meditations on cultural hybridity and symbolic defense. Having grown up across China, the Soviet Union, and SubSaharan Africa, Lepage Boisdron transposes her itinerant biography into layered, intimate compositions that offer viewers a form of visual refuge. Her shields are neither aggressive nor impermeable - they are soft structures for navigating a fragmented world.” Extract of a text writen by Rama Kalindindi Wild at Art

Boisdron is a multidisciplinary artist who blends her extensive cultural influences into an exploration of societal norms, evoking themes of maternal, familial, and intergenerational relationships set in nature. Born in Paris, her multicultural upbringing-spanning North China, the U.S.S.R., the Arab Emirates, and sub-Saharan Africa-has profoundly shaped her artistic vision. This exhibition highlights Boisdron's evolution and latest works, bringing together a complex narrative. At first glance, her scenes appear simple and playful, yet this allows her symbolic feminist and ecological themes to emerge intuitively.Rendered in Chinese and Indian ink on Xuanzhi rice paper, occasional touches of acrylic and delicate stitching, her works shift between figurative, abstract, and organic creations.

Eight International Artists were invited to experiment with their creative process. Keeping a dream journal for a year, allowed the artist to pay attention to their dreams at night and see how and if it effected their creative process, whether directly or indirectly. Dreams are an inspiration for many artists and this exhibition is an opportunity to witness the visual expression of each artists' dream inspirations. Dreams are only seen by the dreamer but artists can take to their medium to show the world what dreams can possibly look like.

This exhibition stems from a recognition that the use of unconventional mediums and visuals, particularly those traditionally classified as craft, fine art, or outsider art, has unjustly marginalised certain artists, especially those perceived as 'other'. Despite the assumption that the art world has transcended these biases, arbitrary distinctions persist, perpetuating elitism and reinforcing stereotypes. Textiles, ceramics, woven crafts, and fibre art are often dismissed as mere "crafts"; yet, paradoxically, they are routinely appropriated by mainstream art without proper acknowledgement.

The exhibition also challenges the perception of avant-garde breakthroughs as opposed to deviations, with the latter unfairly stigmatised as incompetence,

further entrenching stereotypes.

Artists are frequently accused of lacking an understanding of the subtleties of fine art, highlighting disparities in recognition based more on perception than merit. For instance, the phenomenon of chromophobia, deeply ingrained in Western culture, perpetuates tear and aversion to vibrant colours and non-traditional aesthetics associated with femininity and non-Western cultures.

"Cut on the Bias" serves as a platform for artists to explore unconventional themes, visuals, mediums, and expressions, transcending traditional categorisations and biases. Featuring artists from diverse backgrounds, this exhibition confronts the unseen prejudices against alternative mediums while addressing broader societal attitudes towards colour, style, and materials that have been inherited from oppressive narratives. 06/06/24 - 16/06/24

Are we living beyond our existential needs? Has our struggle for existence become more difficult? Have we broken free from natural law (of Karma or Causation) or can it no longer serve us ? What are our positions individually and our place with our societies ? Have nature walks and conversations with others become crucial to sustain our existence ? Where is our mindfulness? Can we go beyond and overcome ourselves? Can we jump over our own shadow? Is there a need for faith, magic and mysticism? What would the great Mahatma say about all this?
